Better known as @mongabong on Instagram and Youtube, we're bringing you an exclusive peek into Mong Chin’s wedding journey leading up to the big day, from all the pre-wedding prep to actual day jitters! In this instalment of Real Weddings in LB, she shares with us the intimate details that went into planning her dream wedding (think soft, romantic hues that exude elegance and poise), along with practical tips every bride needs to hear.

 

Q: Can you tell us a little bit more about your wedding colours/theme?

I opted for tones of blush and pink - I just find such shades so feminine and sophisticated.

Q: What was the inspiration behind them?

I didn't really have any inspiration, to be honest. I generally like to wear these colours on normal days and I've always wanted my wedding to be one that’s soft and romantic!

Q: How did you decide on your wedding venue?

We did it at True Way Presbyterian Church and I really liked how the traditional old pews looked with stained glass in the centre.

For dinner, I chose Pan Pacific Singapore because of the really long and new ballroom (with good food!). I was looking for an aisle that would be long enough to give my dresses more "air-time” - why not?

Q: We’re so honoured to have been a part of your special day! Why did you decide to buy LYLAS for your bride tribe?

I've been a huge fan of Love, Bonito for many, many, many years and I know I can always trust the cutting, fit and quality of the dresses. Choosing LYLAS was a no-brainer for me! I also specifically chose dresses that were not too over-the-top so that my bridesmaids can re-wear them on other occasions. This was something like a bridesmaids gift to them as well!

Q: Celebrating your big day means making tons of decisions. What was your favourite part of the planning experience?

Definitely creating all the mood boards and seeing them come to life! Oh, and of course, food and cake tasting days were awesome too!

Q: What did you not like about the planning experience & how did you work through it?

Things will never go according to plan, but you just have to suck it up and move forward!

We had a lot of problems with the church, food restrictions and set up timings, etc.; that forced us to change our food menu quite a few times. It was a pity, but some things can't be helped and you just have to make do and move on!

Q: You and your hubby are adorable! Who was the most nervous on the big day?

I was more nervous, of course! The bride usually has the most things to do, our hair and makeup already took 2.5 hours more than the groom’s. They get more sleep, do the fun stuff, get to be in comfortable clothes... you get what I'm saying! On the other hand, I was so worried about forgetting things and it was so nerve-wrecking.

Q: If you could relive any moment during your wedding day, which would it be?

Oh, EVERYTHING! I loved every part of it.

If I had to choose just one, it would be the part where I got to go to different tables to take pictures with my guests and chat with them!

Q: Any final tips for other brides-to-be?

Keep calm, be ready to take on hiccups along the way but when the big day comes - brush it all off! At the end of the day, your guests are going to remember how blissful and happy the couple actually were, and the rest is secondary.
